10 top Home Business Ideas for parents
| December 14th, 2006When you are thinking about working from home, you need to factor in the time that is needed in running the business. These ten jobs are fairly simple to get into and have the ability to be flexible and manageable. Letting you spend more time with your family.
1. Medical transcription- this is a wonderful option. The supplies are minimal and the time needed is flexible. If you are a good typist and speak English well then you are able to get into this. The cost to begin is low and the income can be very nice.
2. Accounting- another very flexible one, you can schedule appointments yourself at the time most convenient. The pay can be very profitable. You do need to be very good at financial matters, I have met many at home accountants without college experience. Although; you will be able to charge more with education. You can start on your own, or purchase an at home franchise to get started.
3. Child care- of course a great option for parents, with a few licenses and some research you can be in business quickly and spend all day with your children.
4. Assembling and selling custom gift baskets- a wonderful creative job, you will need a little space to work, but you will be able to do this anytime, and the more crafty you are the better, you can start on your own or join a club that helps you get supplies. You can then sell at craft stores, flea markets, online and at parties.
5. Making and selling candles and crafts- another creative position, from jewelry to dolls and pictures, this can be a fun way to include your children as well. You have a lot of options in getting into this, some will be discussed throughout this blog.
6. Catering- If you are a good cook, with a decent kitchen, all you need is a few licenses depending on your kitchen and your set, with a little marketing and creative thinking you can be up and running in no time. Suggestion: call around and get to know local wedding planners, real estate agents, schools, etc. They often work with people that need catering to parties.
7. Medical claims billing- with some short courses you can be in this field in no time, the hours are flexible and you do not need extensive experience. The positions for this type a work abound right now.
8. Freelance typing- is another flexible position for a good typist. From helping at colleges to online, with a little marketing and creativity, it will not be hard to find clients.
9. Publishing e-books- You can write on your favorite subjects and publish at sites that will sell it, or on eBay, your own website, etc. While this needs a lot of research to be successful, it can be very profitable.
10. Online affiliate programs- a great way to make money from a website or blog, there are so many out there you just need to think of a subject and get to work. The money to be made can range from a few dollars to thousands if you play your cards right. I will be providing more information on this subject later.
There are so many more, and I will be sharing new ones every week, with any business, it is always recommended to research until there is nothing more to read. There are scams in every field, and it is far too easy to fall for a ‘good’ one.
Through out this blog, I will provide more details on several business Ideas, as I research them. If there is something you want to know more about in a hurry, feel free to leave a comment or send an email and I will get to work. I always welcome suggestions and questions.

Saw you on PPP forums and wanted to tell you and the fiance congratulations on your upcoming wedding (tomorrow).
thanks so much!

Legal and general coding and transcription is actually easier to get into than medical coding and transcription
