December 14, 2006 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Working at Home, Blogging

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

When you are thinking about working from home, you need to factor in the time that is needed in running the business. These ten jobs are fairly simple to get into and have the ability to be flexible and manageable. Letting you spend more time with your family.

1. Medical transcription- this is a wonderful option. The supplies are minimal and the time needed is flexible. If you are a good typist and speak English well then you are able to get into this. The cost to begin is low and the income can be very nice.

2. Accounting- another very flexible one, you can schedule appointments yourself at the time most convenient. The pay can be very profitable. You do need to be very good at financial matters, I have met many at home accountants without college experience. Although; you will be able to charge more with education. …

Getting a website for your business

December 12, 2006 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design, Money Matters

If you plan on running a home business, one of the early steps you should be taking is getting a domain name and hosting, this does not have to be an expensive task. But it should be done early so you can begin the design and promotion asap, as it can take months to get listed in some searches.

Once you have picked a business name (i usually do this on the computer, searching for each idea as I think of it because you want it to be avail as a domain name as well if possible.) then you need to get hosting, I have been using register.com for every one of my sites, it is only $6.95 a year for a domain name and hosting is only 5.95 a month. The reason I initially went with them was because I could not …

We are live

December 12, 2006 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Blogging

I took the site public today, first releasing to a few special friends, now to everyone. After much work getting the old template to work, I finally trashed it and started over. There will always be upgrades as we go though, new plugins and tweaks here and there. If you see something that needs to be changes, let me know! I hope you enjoy the site, and let me know if there is anything you want to see discussed.

Be sure to scroll through the archives, there are quite a few hints and articles I have been working hard on. :-)

Direct Sales - Stuff a Friend

December 9, 2006 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Working at Home

Direct sales is a great way to get into business for yourself, some are free, although those are harder to find, and some cost only a little to start. I would start with a free one to get your feelings for it, see if you will even enjoy it. One I have enjoyed is Stuff a Friend. They are free, and have great pricing structures.
They have a decent message board, although I am not there as often as I need to be, if you are able to devote a little time to something like this, it would be well worth it.

Direct sales is not for everyone, I personally am not a great salesperson, but I enjoy it and because it is free, I do not have to worry about wasting money if it doesn’t work. This is one of those companies that …

Squidoo Lenses - great marketing tool

December 6, 2006 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: SEO and Marketing

No matter the subject matter, you can make a lens on squidoo and drive traffic and credibility to your site. I have one for working at home that gives me about 15 visitors a day to my other blog. It would be more if I updated it more. It is a very good way to get your name out there. You can add relevant sites, articles, start a discussion, and more. They say you can also earn money from the ads on the site, so far mine has only earned about .34 cents. :-) So you should give it a try, it is free, of course. And leave your lens in the comments so I can come and visit.
