The Birth of My Home office

I have been making money online since I first started getting online, it all started when I was in high school, and I would make a cute little page for a friend in exchange for a few bucks, I just had alot of fun with it. Then I decided to look around more and see the potential, so I started learning more, and ended up getting some ‘real’ jobs online doing websites. At this time I was still working outside the house, at fast food places and school. Shortly after school, I got married and became a mommy, at that point I tried everything you can think of to make money online, I experienced my first, but not last scam, got ripped off stuffing envelopes, and then another selling internet services. I ended up getting a ‘real job’ outside of the house.

Then when my marriage fell apart, I went to California with my mother and decided to go to college for computer programming, loved it, aced it. When I left California, I moved around quite a bit, never once using my degree at the restaurants I worked at. :-) I would bounce back and forth, trying to work from home and failing, back to the ‘real world’. Then somehow, about 3 years ago, I got some freedom, I could ‘afford’ to try to work from home and fail the first few times, so I did, miserably! I tried everything, from getting paid to read emails, to mystery shopping, a few web site design jobs, you name it, I tried it. But I never found my calling.

I though I had struck gold when I found the phone jobs, and I had, I worked full time at home, making full time income answering the phone and placing orders for companies like HSN, Toys R Us, etc. I only stopped doing that because it wasn’t what I really wanted to do. Not that I know what I want to do now, :-) But I kept trying things, I did work with medical records for a while, I made and sold jewelry, I did scrapbooking. Then I started blogging and writing. I really enjoy this, I enjoy being able to try thousands of things and write about them. It gives me variety. I guess you could call me a ‘researcher and reporter’. I will try the scams so you don’t have to. Writing gives me a chance to review new websites, products and jobs. And hopefully make a difference.

So thats my story, how I got started working from home. It has been a long bumpy road, and I am sure it isn’t over yet. But I am glad to have you with me!

Thanks for the article. I enjoyed reading about how you began and lasted. That is what all women who plan to start their own home offices should know.
