Having your own business can be very confusing, time consuming and costly. One of the biggest mistakes I eve made was letting ‘leads’ slip through my hands by simply not organizing them. I used to keep them in a folder in outlook, but this was not the best way to keep them where I know the status or the needs. For example, when I was selling fuller brush products, I would get orders, potential sales people under me, and a team of sales people asking questions, but because I did not organize these right, I didn’t do the most important thing a business person needs to do- follow up. I just finished watching the demo of the customer relationship management product at AIM promote, and I think it is a great product for a home business.

The have a organized way to look at your ‘leads’ be it from a form submission on your web page, someone you add your self, etc. This way, once a week, or once a month, you can log in and send out an email to all of your previous customers and let them know about a new deal or item. You can sort customers by potential sales people and follow up. If you do any sort of business where you have to interact with people, be it selling products or services, check out their demo to see if this is for you. I may end up using it for the new site I am opening for wordpress re-designs.

When I first signed up with CJ, I had a hard time separating between leads and sales, to be honest I still don’t understand the difference. Thanks for the post it helped me understand a little more now

I used to have the same problem too, not until I make use of a web-based leads software. I used to work with universities and colleges, and so it’s very important that I can filter out the executive education leads based on their interests, which can be deciding factors of what kind of courses the educational institution will be offering to them. With the use of marketing automation system, I was able to sort them out, going after those that may have higher interest level than the others. They are much easier to convince, and thus, they can immediately help in increasing conversion rate.
