Ahhhh, responding to comments. In the beginning that is a simple task; but after a while of blogging, building your readership, well, responding can get hard. You have a few options here though. My favorite is using a plugin by Owen, called Comment Email Responder.
With this plugin, you can reply to multiple authors and leave the answer on your blog, instead of both email the commenter AND commenting on your blog; once installed it puts a little envelope next to the commenter’s name and you click on each persons envelope you wish to respond to, then you type out your response- in comment form for everyone to see, and submit it, the plugin grabs the commenter’s email and sends then the comment in their email. t works well with ’subscribe to comments’ so if the commenter is already subscribed to your comments then it will not resend them your reply. It is extremely simple to set up and works like a charm on my blogs. Just remember whatever you put in there is a comment to everyone to see, so If you have something personal to say to the commenter, shoot them an email instead.
Ok, so that is one way to reply to your comments, but if for some reason you can not use this method, or do not like it, you can also respond individually, just set your blog software to email you all new comments, usually those emails have the senders email in the reply field so when you hit reply, it goes right to them. This can be very time consuming and remember you also want to go to your own page and leave responses there for all to see, maybe someone else had the same question and if you only email the writer, the rest will not know the answer.
No matter the method you choose, it is good practice to respond to comments you get, but do not let doing this take the whole day, set aside 15-20 minutes a day to do this, all at once and get it over with. I have a folder in my outlook that it set up to grab all comment emails and put them in this folder, so when I sit down to try to respond, they are all there in one place, and do not distract me when I am doing other tasks.
As I said however, this is something I myself am working on getting better at, the last month or so has been hectic and there were ALOT of comments that went unanswered, if you were one of those I am sorry for not responding, but I promise I have read and taken all comments to heart! Thanks for your input!

Nice blog. Responding to comments shows that you take a valid interest in the needs of your readers. Anything to make your responses more tailored and targeted is worth the effort. Good luck on your blogging.
