Joseph’s birthday is coming up, and because I am sure he never reads this blog anymore I am gonna share with you what I am getting him. :-) Shhhhh!!! I just finished ordering from PaintYourLife.com, a 16 inch by 20 inch water color painting of the picture below from our wedding. It was only 278.00 for everything including shipping and it will be here hopefully just a few days before his birthday. It was really easy to order and they let you customize it by adding notes of changes, etc. They can even combine multiple pictures. One of the reasons I went with this aside from it being a really great present idea, was I received a email asking me to review the website in exchange for a discount on the painting. Soooo, what do I think so far? Wonderful customer service, I had a question while ordering and it was answered very quickly; the vast number or previews of other work, showing both the before picture and the finished paintings. They have a great FAQ section and tons of options, from sizing to paint options, watercolor was my choice, but they also have oil, charcoal, pencil, pastels and acrylic. They have beautiful framing options, and the ability to combine pictures together, to include everyone in a family picture. I really like the pricing, it is just right for this type of art- I always get nervous when I see those sites offering it for 30 dollars- no way that is real! This seems much more legit!
Another bonus is that you only pay 20% of the total as a deposit, then when you see the proofs and confirm it, you then pay the rest. Also, shipping is only 19.00 an order, no matter how many pictures or where in the world you are. That is a great bonus!
When ordering you choose the size, frame, medium and type first, then it takes you to a page where you upload up to 3 pictures (you have the option to mail in pictures as well) and the first one is the main one to get painted, the other 2 are references for the painter to get a better look at your subjects and be able to get any details not in the main picture. The three below are the ones I sent in, and in the comments section you are able to put in any changes or requests, for example, I asked the painter to try to make my eyes less puffy and red lol, I had been crying, and I also asked to trim us down a little bit, hey, if the diet didn’t work photo editing will. I also asked to have my bangs look less matted, as the viel messed them up by the time that picture was taken. I also asked to leave out the greens in the bottom of the picture, just to include us and the flowers I am holding.
It should be about 20 days before I get it back, but I will keep you updated as I hear from them with proofs and such. I highly reccomment the site so far, I was really impressed with the products and can’t wait to see the finished product and the look on his face when I give it to him! :-)

What a great idea! I just celebrated my 20th anniversary, but our wedding picture wasn’t cute enough to enlarge. Anyway, I wanted to comment because I can relate to a hubby not reading a blog. I’ve written over 500 posts in over a year, and I don’t think my husband’s read a single one. I even mentioned in a post what he was getting for his birthday last fall, knowing he’d never find out. Thanks for the grin!!!
Congrats on the 20th anniversary Kathy! We are only about to hit our 6 month one! And he used to read my blog all the time when I first started, then he just started forgetting LOL
