Financial Reset

June 23, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Money Matters

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I went ahead and hit the magic reset button on Mvelopes last night, clearing all envelopes and starting over; it just was not organized enough for me at all! I spent about 2 hours re-setting it back up and adding in all of the envelopes we need. Everything finally looks good again, and if everything goes right, we will have a new bed in about a week. I sure hope so, I really noticed just how uncomfortable it was last night, lol, I guess it was because we SHOULD have already had a new bed! :-(

If you have not checked out Mvelopes yet you really should, it has helped us tremendously with savings and budgeting. I know they have a option for business as well if that may help you more.

And with this post we are a little closer to having the bed as it …

Branching out and Growth plans

June 20, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Business Advice, Money Matters

tipjar.jpgSo, I have been doing some reading in the last few days and decided I need to branch out. After all, this blog was intended to help me grow as well as help other by taking chances and letting you know how it goes. I have some plans I need to site down and implement, but I am not sure what to do at this point. As far as blog plans, I am planning on switching things up a bit, you may have already noticed, but I have begun trying to write more informative articles on blogging and business rather than what I had been doing which was just short quips of advice and tips. It started with the Time Management 101 series and I am now in the middle of a Blog Promotion 101 series. (I need to think of better names …

June 19, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: SEO and Marketing

edit-file.jpgOnce you have your blog set up and ready for the public eye it is time to start promoting it. This series on Blog Promotion will take you through the steps of doing just that. Right now we are going to talk a little about getting your site into search engines.

One of the first things you need to do is come up with the keywords you will focus on for your blog, like for my Wordpress Reworked blog, the keywords would be along the lines of wordpress, themes, templates, custom, design, headers. Pick about 12 good keywords for your site and keep them in a handy place, you will reference this list for inserting tags in submission forms, meta tags, etc.

Now that you know what keywords you will be focusing on, you need to create meta tags. Even blogs have them, depending …

Planning for a business

June 19, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Money Matters

We have been using the MVelopes budgeting program or a while now and it is helping alot- every week I put about 10% of our income into a ‘envelope’ for business expenses, like hosting etc. I would like to do more but we cant right now. I am also looking into different kinds of financial reporting software to help me this tax year, as last year was such a pain. I have been doing better on keeping receipts and such though. I know this year I am going to hire an accountant to do my taxes- doing them myself was way too hard with all of the non taxed income and everything! …
