What does a Professional Logo do for you?

A logo is a very important part of any business, even blogging. You want to create a brand, you want something that people will immediately recognize your business with. For example, on this blog I have a simple graph, while that is not even close to a ‘professional’ logo, it is mine for the time being. As an example, check out a few diffrent sites, like this one for a New York car accident lawyer and this one, the one with the professional looking logo and site would be the one that got my votes.
If your a blogger, you have probably downloaded free themes and edited them to your liking. But do you have a logo? If you take a look around at some of the ‘big boys’ of blogging, they all have logos. Something that when we come across the blog we immediately recognize. Even Feed burner is taking this into account, and you can set your logo as a picture on the feed.
Logos are not as expensive as you would think. Below are some companies that I recommend, I have used all of these at one point or another for various web design clients.
Ten Dollar Logo - Well, you get what you pay for here. Very basic logos, with a very unfriendly staff. I would NOT recommend this company. They may work for some of you, but I say, don’t waste your money. They say everything is unique, but I find that hard to believe, as they are so basic. They have a 3 day turnaround and will wait until the last possible hour to send the logo. I tried them for this blog but it was just not what I was looking for at all.
Logo Maker
- This one is great, for only 49.00 you get a custom logo that you help create with thousands of options. Once you design your logo you get all the copies of it, in different formats like .jpeg, .eps, etc. And you have full use of it. They will even help you get them printed on stationary, hats, shirts, etc. I used them for a hair salon shop about 6 months ago and was very happy with the results. Then again, it would be hard not too sine you are involved through the whole process. They even let you completely design your logo before having to sign in, so you can see if there is something you like before you pay for it.
Logo Works
- While the logos produced are perfect, and they really did do a great job, they are expensive, here is a special page with a $20 off discount
. Even with that the prices start at 249.00. Unlike Logo Maker, your design is done by a professional logo designer, for the 249 package you get 2 designers designing a total of 4 different logos for you to pick from and up to 2 revision requests. For the more expensive packages you get more designers, revisions, and proofs. It is an investment, and well worth it. But I would have never used them if my client at the time had not requested. Too rich for my blood.
logojeez.com
- This is more like it. This company was the most friendly out of anyone, and had reasonable prices, starting at 95.00 for one designer, one proof and up to two revisions. They follow instructions to the T, I did not have to ask for any revisions, they actually went to the site they were designing for and made sure it matched other design elements. They offer several packages and will combine stationary and your logo design into one set.
If you have any Logo Companies you recommend, leave a comment so I can check them out! I like having a lot in my arsenal.

I just put up the logo I have now so that I could get my site going; I do plan on changing it though
there is nothing wrong with waiting a while, get your focus first that way you can get one that really matches.
I guess this is the power of blogging… we can say whatever we want to say specially if they deserve it.. Poor service nees to be discussed on blogs so people will know and the service provider can improve their craft as well.
Good points.
I think that ten dollar logo was bought out because I notice that it has a new design to it, and a few years ago I hired them for a small project I had and they were absolutely great!
I can tell just by looking at the website that the quality is not there anymore.
Thanks for the suggestions and the informative articles.

Thanks for that hint! And 10$ for a customized logo is a great deal for someone who isn’t familiar with Photoshop…
Yeah, 10 is a great deal, and they could possibly do ok with one, but I wouldn’t use them if it were my last 10 dollars, you know :-)
