Pay Per Click Internet Marketing: Is It Worth It?

If you are looking for the most common form of Internet Marketing, then pay per click is definitely it. Hundreds of people join pay per click scheme every single year in the hope of making a lot of money. However, is it really possible to make thousands of dollars a month through pay per click schemes or are they simply just another scam?
Understanding Pay per Click
With pay per click there are a number of options open to you and one method which people tend to use is taking part in a pay per click search engine scheme. This is where you bid for the highest position on the search engines and they usually include either Google or Overture.
Generally with search engine pay per click schemes, what you do not realize is that you will usually only ever really receive around 2-25% of all traffic. This means that your earnings will usually be fairly low and you could end up spending more on the pay per click scheme than you earn back. It is possible to pay thousands of dollars just to get a decent amount of traffic and even then, you cannot guarantee that the traffic will purchase whatever it is that you are offering. So generally search engine pay per click schemes are not usually worth it.
So just what is the best type of pay per click scheme? Well it seems to be where you join Adwords on Google. Basically Adwords allows you to have your listing on possibly the biggest search engine worldwide and you have a better chance of earning back a lot of money. You just have to choose some good keywords to advertise your business and then your advertisement is placed on the side of Google’s search results depending upon those keywords. The only thing to keep in mind about this type of Internet Marketing, is that you need to know exactly which keywords best suit your business.
Finally another type of pay per click which people try out is a type where you advertise on other company’s websites. You simply ask them if they will display a pay per click banner on their website and in return you display a link or a banner of their website. Now, there is often a problem with this type of pay per click as so many people think that they should advertise practically everywhere that they can. This is not really the case and if anything, advertising your website on another website which is completely unrelated to your type of business, could damage your reputation. So if you do choose to take part in this type of Internet Marketing, make sure that you advertise on relevant websites that are similar to yours.
Overall Internet Marketing pay per click schemes are definitely worth looking into. If you choose the right one it could earn you potentially a lot of money. Just remember to avoid using the wrong keywords and using the wrong websites to advertise on!

Great post. I think it takes a lot of research before you start using PPC. I am not at that level yet. I will in couple of months, because I got to promote my first e-book.
I’ve found that using a small monthly budget, even if people don’t click my PPC ads, I still get a lot of ad displays, which helps build brand name recognition. The beauty of PPC is not always in the click.

This is a good post! Google Adwords is probably the most popular way of using PPC. As a PPC advertiser, I can tell you that without a doubt, a proper PPC campaign can boost your bottom line, sometimes right through the roof!
However, I see a lot more people losing money on PPC campaigns because they do not know what they’re doing. PPC is a magic cure. You have to do your homework and budget money for it to work. Of course, you can say that about many avenues of marketing!

I like to compare contextual ads to ads you might find in a magazine. Pick up any special niche magazine and you’ll see ads for products or services related to the subject matter of the magazine as well as ads on subjects that might be of interest to readers in the magazine’s subscriber demographics.
Want a good reason to try contextual advertising? Think volume and exposure. Consider all the sites you visit each day on the Web. Most of these are candidates for contextual advertising. Cpxclick.com claims to have partnerships with over 500 search engine sites in the system already. For a company wanting widespread exposure on the web, I can’t think of another medium that has the potential reach of contextual advertising.
