We are always trying to market our business, whether your business is a blog, an ebay business, crafts, etc. Marketing can help all of you. Some marketing is free, and some is paid. You might think, well I have a personal blog, do I need to pay for advertising? Well, technically no, but if you want to advertise on your blog, you will need traffic, and advertising provides traffic. Below are 10 ways to promote your business. What are some ways you can think of that are not listed?
- Pay Per Click (PPC) - You have a few choices here. Google, Yahoo, MSN, and bidVertise. With PPC marketing, you define your keywords and set up an ad with a daily budget and an amount of money per visitor that you will pay. Once you have your ad set up, your ad shows in the sponsored results of the searches, as well as on other people’s site whose keywords match yours.
- Newspapers- Depending on your business this is also a good option, call your local papers to find out the rates, then try it for one week, or a month and track your results.
- Free Online Classifieds- There are sooo many of these out there, and some get great traffic, others not so much. Try to submit to at least 2 a week.
- E-Zine Advertising- Do a google search for “e-zines + your keyword” this will bring up diffrent e-zines, most of them accept advertising (or sponsors) and it can be relativity cheap, depending on the amount of subscribers.
- >Blogging- Of course, if you sell toys and kids things, making a blog for your business can draw in a lot of business, especially is you “cross market” meaning advertise and talk about your toys on your blog, and link to your blog from the ’store’. You could write articles on toy safety, review a new toy you have, hold contests and provide value.
- Article Submission- There are several sites online where you can submit an article, along with a ‘author bio’ at the bottom, you can write articles pertaining to your niche, and other bloggers will pick them up and post them on their blog to have more content. You ‘bio’ at the bottom remains in tact and you have just gained a back link. Be sure to submit original articles, not ones you have already written on your blog, that will be seen by google a ‘duplicate content’ and hurt your ratings.
- Post Cards and Direct Mail- This is expensive, or it can be depending on how you do it. This will not work for all businesses, so you need to analyze your business and determine if you would benifit from this type of marketing.
- Flyer’s, Business Cards, and word of mouth- Again, depending on the business, this can be super cheap, hanging flyers near places where your typical ready may be, if you have a health blog or site, you could place flyer’s, in and around the gym, heck, you may have more luck if you post it at a bakery shop or fast food, people will likely be feeling guilty and would be more open to a health blog!
- Forums- add your website(s) to your forum signature and get to posting. Whatever you do do not post for the sake of posting, forum readers know when you do that and you will not get very good results. Forums are about quality not quantity. Become a contributing member to the community, provide value and people will be more likely to visit your site.
- You Tube, Face book, My Space, etc. - These are some of the newest ways, free and can work wonders (there are many more than I listed, I will be having a guest post on Social Media soon. Some one with more qualifications than me should write it!
