Selling Wholesale Products

| September 28th, 2007

Yesterday I talked about looking into some wholesale companies that dop-ship. While these are great options, and I plan on using them; there are other options. One of the other options would be finding a wholesale company that does not drop ship, that only sells ‘pallets’ of product at wholesale prices. Thinks like an entire pallet of books could be as little as 100.00, then you take it apart and sell them individually for profit.

The reason this is a good option is that the prices will generally be lower per item than with the drop ship companies, the downfall however is the money it will take to get started. Between a minimum order amount, shipping, and your costs of packing and listing fees, it can get expensive. If you are wanting to get into this, you may take a look into getting a small business line of credit, it is fairly easy, especially at the link I have above, they offer loans and credit cards and approvals are quick.

Some people shy away from getting a loan for a home business, but at some point it may be required, I recommend before you do anything drastic; like take out a 40,000 loan right now; is to sit down with your family and a notebook and plan your business, research where you can get pallets to sell, how much they are, calculate the cost you will sell them for, listing fees and packing expenses, and add in money for your time investment. What you are working on here is the financial part of a business plan, try to pre plan every aspect, and don’t borrow more than you need.

templates.gifI love templates, they make everything so much easier, all you have to edit is the text at a minimum. Although some of them require you to edit a few images to show your menu options and the header, but those changes are suprisingly simple. Check out , they have TONS of templates, from website templates, logos (really good looking Logos- check out the ” CorporateID - 3D” to see what I mean), powerpoint templates, and even word document templates at the bottom of the right side menu.

The word templates are great, I wish I would have had those when I was redoing my moms hospice employee manuals, they are so much better designed than the few on Office online. This is a paid place, but really a good deal, it is a one time payment of 59.95, to access and download as much as you want. Other services like that, are charging anywhere from 40-200 for ONE template (see Monster Templates- so expensive- and some of the same layouts at as Monster Templates!)

Hopefully in the next few weeks I will sign up so I can get a new logo for here, and some templates for the wholesale site I plan on starting. I am not shure when I will start the site but I plan on doing it as a tutorial from start to finish so others can follow and try their own.

Yard Signs for your Business

| September 26th, 2007

sign.gifYou have probably all seen the signs in town; saying things such as “earn 10,000 a month part time, call this number” and such. As much as those are crap signs, think about what a sign promoting your business would do? If your a web designer, design a great sign with basic info and great design, and place it around town (get permission first). For some good prices check out the signs at Build a Sign, they are a lot less than our local sign dealer, it is worth doing some comparison shopping around town and online to find the best deal.
