No home based Internet business can truly survive without having a list of regular clients. This means that if you want to be successful in whatever it is that you do for your work online, then you have to know some e-mail addresses which you can advertise your services to. E-mail Marketing can really help you to become extremely successful; you just have to know how to do it correctly.
What is E-Mail Marketing?
E-mail Marketing is basically a form of advertising for your home based business. It is quite popular and thousands of people use it in the hope of gaining new traffic to their website. It can also be used to ensure that existing clients do not lose interest or forget about your company. However, many times it is overly abused and if you do abuse it, you are in danger of earning your business a bad name, rather than a good one!
So basically in order to take part in E-mail marketing, you will need to have a list of e-mail addresses of both potential clients and existing clients. You can get the E-mail addresses in a number of ways, but mainly it is always better to do your own research and start off using existing clients wherever possible. The worst thing that you can do is to send e-mails to practically everyone, as this will be classed as spam and that is when your business will start get a bad name. Think about it – you don’t like receiving spam messages, so why would anybody else?
Using E-Mail Marketing to Your Advantage
If you are interested in using E-mail marketing to enhance the traffic to your website, then you need to go about it in the right way. This means that you need to think about the people who are most likely to use your services. You also need to ensure that you have the clients consent before you send out any marketing information. So just how do you go about doing this?
Well firstly you could provide a link on your website which explains that if the person wants to receive any further information, they should tick the box or fill in a short form with their e-mail address included. That is usually one of the most effective ways of allowing people to say whether they would be interested in hearing more from you. However, there are other effective ways to see whether people would be interested in your business and that is to advertise on other relevant websites.
Once you have a list of interested clients, you should then ensure that you have a good E-mail newsletter. This will really help to sell your product or services and you should make it as interesting as possible. You should also always add your contact details to this newsletter as that way your clients can easily contact you if they need to. Ideally you need to make things as convenient as possible for your clients, otherwise they may not make the effort to visit your website and purchase your product/service.
Finally make sure that you track the amount of responses that you receive from the E-mails that you send out. This way you will be able to tell whether the time, effort and money which you are putting into creating and sending your regular E-mails, is worth it.
Overall E-mail Marketing can really help any home based business to gain new clients. If you are planning on starting up your own business online then it is definitely something that you should be aware of.

I have also put a form in my website that requires my visitors to put their email addresses.
But just yesterday, I was able to read a blog post that says making a phone call rather than sending email to prospect clients/partners is much better.
I am sure it just depends on what your selling to know what marketing works for you.
