I wanted to let yall in on my secret, I have just started back at parameds as a medical records retriever, my job is to call dr’s offices and request medical records for insurance companies. Because of a strict privacy clause, I cant say much more than that.
It is a full time job, you work monday thru friday, all day. It is hard work, but it is steady income after the first month, the first month you are getting everything rolling and they hold your first check for 30 days, so you do not get paid until about a month and a half after you start. All you need to do is send in your resume to joinus@parameds.com and ask to be a medical records retriever. Contact me for more information.

Yes but for what they expect for $4.50 per APS it is RIDICULOUS! Many dr’s offices do not ever answer their phones (especially dept’s like medical records). And so if you cant get ahold of an office parameds will HOUND THE HELL out of you to call those problems offices 5 or 6 times a day. If you average 100 cases you are guaranteed to have at least 12 to 15 problem offices. YOU DO THE MATH. Many cases will take 2 to 3 months of calls EVERYDAY (5 or 6 calls per case per day according to PDC)to get these records sent. If you see that you have gotten an office that is a REALLY BIG PROBLEM you CANNOT get a case transfered. That is grounds for termination. They WILL NOT transfer a case no matter what. And if you ask they will stop sending you cases altogether…you will work the problem cases until you die or they send the APS whichever comes first. Forget a supervisor call they wont do that either. Parameds nanomanages a retriever on every case. They are up your a** constantly. And they act like they are doing you a favor. It is a job for a ’shut-in” or someone who cannot do anything else and MUST have work at home. I average about $5.00 an hr. and it is not worth it.
