Home Business Ideas Article

Using the Free Keyword Suggestion tool from Wordtracker that I suggested in this post I came up with 100 search terms for home business. Perfect time to write an article on home business ideas! Unfortunately none of the terms mentioned are what the blog is targeting now.
This is where the list would of appeared but the formatting went all crazy when put into this blog so click here to see the results.
I think Home Based Business is good but too competitive. Work at Home business sounds a little better but I’d be best targeting a term in the middle to bottom as this is a rather competitive industry. Some of these terms could be “work at home businesses, internet home business, work from home businesses” etc… The top of the list got ~1500 searches. I’m going for one that gets 40-100. If you click on one of the suggestions it further expands on it which is pretty cool adding more easier to target long-tail keywords.
If you have a new blog and want to aim for the top and think what I’m saying is bull I challenge you to target the top terms especially 2 or 3 word terms and see how you rank. You’d be better off targeting several small ones that are 4-7 words and getting some traffic on those. Don’t take my word for it though if you don’t believe me go for it!
One thing I find fascinating is the terms people search and how if you don’t verify before you make a blog post the post may be only 10-30% as effective had you optimized it for a similar but different term. I’ve also found out that the things I type in to search aren’t the run of the mill so I best look at these types of data often. Who would of thought having a management science and information systems degree would make my searching slightly more refined!?
If you haven’t used the tool yet I encourage you to give it a try here. Also note that the title of this post gets 49 searches so it’s probably #70-80 or so out of the 100 mentioned. I’ll see if this brings me any traffic…

Some nice advice and resources. SEO stuff is forever changing and there are those who I know who are actually seeking less search engine reliance this year because of it. However, I’m of the opinion that a 30% Search Engine visit rate is pretty good and am not there yet so I continue to delve into the SEO game this year. Thanks!

Nothing beats direct type in but unless you have a keyword domain you’ll have to be reliant on search engines to get the word out. You are right though; being overly reliant on any one source is a recipe for disaster.
