Pay Per Play has been discussed on this blog before; if you aren’t familiar please read this post here.
Something cool is that the program which is plays audio ads on your website for new visitors is planned to launch in ~ 2 weeks and was just recently mentioned in the Wall Street Journal!
“As more people see potential in earning money off the Internet, there is a quickly expanding array of advertising services and tools for bloggers that go well beyond the standard pay-per-click text ads or display ads.”
If you haven’t already signed up with PPP now is a good time. Even if you don’t plan on using the program yourself directly it’s still a great time to spread the word and take advantage of this expanding opportunity through ref feral commission!
Whether the program will sink or swim is still a mystery however I believe that it …
Negative Effects of Caffeine - I Quit!
January 15, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: What I am Doing
I’ve been an on again off again coffee addict basically since I started working 9-5 ~4 years ago. I’m ready to quit and also curious about the negative effects of caffeine consumption. I’ve quit before and am decidedly more productive and happy without it!
Before I dive into the negative effects let me say that I think depending on who you are as a person caffeine / coffee may have benefits that help you throughout the day but for others it’s just detrimental. I have a LOT of energy to begin with. I’m one of those people who spring out of bed landing in their clothes do a somersault down the stairs and a cartwheel out the door.
I’m exaggerating slightly but I really don’t need coffee or caffeine. What I find is that when I start drinking it I keep drinking more and more and more until I get headaches from …
If I had Only 1 Hour to Make a Site I Would…

I was thinking about all the success and failures I’ve had online and what some of the biggest roadblocks to success were. Sadly I think that most sites fail because they fail to plan. I’m guilty and I’m sure many of you reader’s are as well!
You find a good idea and you’re so zealous about it that you just start running. Start registering domains, setting up hosting all before you figured out what pages you’re going to have, how they are going to be organized etc… The problem with this technique is that you have no concrete plan so whenever you see a conceivably better term or something of the like it changes your plan and lets doubt creep in. Doubt and fear are cousins which steal efficiency and confidence.
Basically I’d spend a good 50 minutes of the one hour deciding on exactly what keyterms to target; what domain name …

by Dave “Inhibitor” Hughes author of Lagorama
Sooner or later, most bloggers and website owners look for a way to monetize their site, and there are many options to choose from. TNX.net is one of those options, but how does it work, how well does it work, and what are the pluses and minuses of using it?
First, we’ll look at exactly what TNX is. From their website:
TNX.net combines the benefits of Contextual Advertising, Text Link Brokers and Relevant Exchange of permanent non-reciprocal text links.
What the service amounts to is a way to sell links to other sites on your site, giving the link buyer the advantage of traffic from your site, and an increase in their Google Page …
Government Grants for Small Businesses
January 10, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Business Advice
Let’s talk about something I love - Government Grants for Small Businesses. I also love other people’s money when doing a venture to help spread the risk. What’s better then starting a business and having the government help pay to get it going?
I first learnt about gov grants for small businesses when I was in Calgary, Alberta Canada. I was at a tradeshow and one of the gents who worked in catering started chatting with me as the show was dead and my booth was near the door they came through. His best advice was when applying for one speak in government terms which is very general.
Governments have grants for MANY things they just don’t publicize it too much. You’ll also have a hard time finding lot’s of information online. You will find some but most of them are basically people who have done the homework and now want to …
