Project Wonderful - Single Page Banner Ads - Warning

Hi everyone,

Just another day on the net for yours truly but I have something that I want to share today; basically when you are using a campaign for Project Wonderful make sure you pay attention that the actual auction is for a sitewide!

Many places sell the ads cheap but in reality what they are doing is NOT giving you an index and sitewide but just a banner below one single post so basically an orphaned page. I went through all my bids. (Currently I have 198 bids with ~130 active!) and at random began noticing that a few of them were actually just for single pages. If you do it manually it’s no big deal but when running a campaign of any size or scope it’s easy to get slid in their and waste your money!

I haven’t REALLY figured out a way to totally safeguard myself so I can’t report on it but I did want to bring it to everyone’s attention that it’s something to be careful of. I spoke with the gent who did it to me and for him it was an honest mistake which he will be changing as he’s new to publishing ads. That being said regardless of intent I’m sure there will be people doing it in the future some knowingly some unknowingly.

The logic is if I’m going to only get $0.10 for my sitewide why not add one on each page and get $0.02-$0.05 each? I know it’s petty but hey this is the internet and it takes all kinds and don’t forget $1 in North America does NOT have the same value of $1 in other places of the world… Anyways I spoke with him yesterday and my ad is still live so for educational purposes please visit here. Once clicked go to the main index and notice my banner is totally gone; awesome!

Another tip I have for you is put a minimum of say 500 page views a day. The reason why I say this is because lot’s of blogs have unrealistic min bids and say you put in .2 there may be blogs out there that say minimum $0.2 a day even if they only get 100 page views! It’s funny I heard on other blogs saying they accept no less then $1 and when I looked at their site I was like … I’d rather drink another coffee each day then spend it there… (Yes I’m back to coffee btw! )If you want to further discuss this please visit this thread on my forum where it is discussed.
