It’s funny how things work out but recently I’ve inadvertently done an experiment that my blog would of been better off without. I’m going to share with you how to lose rss subscribers on a good blog in a hurry.
1) Begin posting daily to build up membership and let them know that this is a place they can travel to on their daily stroll for information and maybe a little fun.
2) Suddenly disappear when momentum is building and don’t post for 2 days.
3) When you do post again it’s at an odd hour on the weekend and not one of your best.
4) Follow it up by a post that is irrelevant to your theme; sure there is a “what I’m doing” but people looking for home business ideas probably want to read about what you’re doing business wise; not what you’re doing standing in line at the grocery store… or airport for that matter.
5) Sell some advertising so you take down the project wonderful widgets you had been discussing in detail to some extent for the last while unexpectedly. Write a post about it that’s vague.
6) Write another post of questionable quality on roughly the same topic as step 3.
7) Have your blog crash and say suspended contact the billing department. (In my defense this is hosted on a friends server) Nothing builds confidence like a blog that says account suspended for financial reasons!
8) Make a poorly written post about downtime of your blog so everyone who didn’t notice the downtime now knows that you do have downtime.
9) Leave step 8 as the last blog posted for 2 days to make sure even more people know emphasizing it.
10) Write a post about all the things you didn’t do for the last week or so to further reinforce the concept of step 9.
There you have it; if you’ve done something like this my only recommendation is to make a witty post about it then start posting like you should of been!
