Benefits of Participating on Blogging Forums

March 31, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

This is a guest post written by a friend of mine that ironically I met at the forum named bobbytoat. His blog can be seen here.

Let’s not waste time introducing blog forums. Instead, we shall look at the 7 major benefits you will get by participating on forums:

1. Get FREE exposure and visitors to your blog

This is rather obvious, a blogging forum is an excellent place for link baiting. You can get your links noticed by discreetly inserting links of relevant posts into suitable threads, start a new discussion thread with one of your recently written articles as the point of discussion or just flaunt your links in your signature. Want to attract even more attention to yourself? Get attractive avatar and insert your feed’s headline animator in your signature!

2. You can trade and take up jobs on forums

Many bloggers who have trouble monetizing their blogs are able to earn some money through their participations on forums. You can look forward to selling your services or products on forums. There are many people who are willing to spend money there, provided that they get a good value for price. Have no products to sell? Don’t worry, some forum members are even paying other members to help them complete certain tasks such as commenting on their blogs or posting new threads on their personal forums. There’s really no limit as to how much you may earn from the trading places of various forums. Beware though, some forums are strictly against affiliate marketing!

3. Get suggestions, comments, reminders and tips from forum members

Have no idea how to monetize your blog? Having a problem with your blogging platform? Suffering from writer’s block? Cannot recognize scams from genuine money making opportunities? No problem, post your questions and discuss with the other forum members. Seriously, blogging forums are one-stop centre for all blogging problems as well as constructive opinions.

4. Opportunities to collaborate with other bloggers

Collaborative blogs are getting more and more popular. Certainly, a blog will have more momentum if there are a few people driving it forward rather than a lone blogger. Forums are good places to look for blogging partners because they know their stuff and you can view their profile to see how reliable or dedicated they are. Select partners from the creme de la creme and have joint activities such as contests which will bring mutual benefits to everyone.

5. Stay updated on the current blogging issues and technologies

You can stay updated on the current blogging issues and new technologies or services by participating actively in forum discussions. Stay a step ahead of bloggers who do not participate on forums. In the blogosphere, freshness of news is essential, you certainly don’t want to miss out on the important news! The saying “better late than never” does not always hold true in this trade, make sure you remember this.

6. Get all kinds of freebies

There are all kinds of freebies available on forums. If you pay enough attention, you are likely to find many free ebooks, directory listings, softwares, articles and other giveaways. Why pay for such things when you can get it for free? If you are very active in certain forums and have earned considerable reputations (or karma points), you can even get review copies of softwares, ebooks, reports, etc. being sold for free because you are a trusted authority and you only need to give a short review about the product. These perks are certainly invaluable and good to have!

7. You can share revenue with those forums

Revenue sharing is certainly the in-thing now. Some forums offer revenue sharing by placing your adsense codes 50% of the time , while others pay you according to the popularity of the threads that you initiate and also based on how actively you participate in discussions and refer friends to join them. For a really popular forum, you can earn quite a considerable sum through revenue sharing.

What do you think about those benefits? Still skeptical about participating on forums? Don’t be, because you will be the one who loses out if you do not join and participate in blogging forums, guaranteed.

I think this is definitely a reason why I participate actively in a few forums. Though, it is a lot of hard work and time consuming but at the end of the day, learning and meeting new bloggers with similar interests is what matters to me!

Not fully agreed. This forums just care for their own profit and make stupid constraints. Not so bad idea but … do I have a choise?
