Cold Calling 101 - Beginners Guide

March 20, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Business Advice

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Cold Calling is one of those terms that when many people here they shudder. Nothing like calling complete strangers; taking up their time and giving them a pitch while they are uninterested only to receive rejection. Sounds like fun where do I sign up?

The truth is cold calling does not need to be like that. In fact if you have a small business with an even smaller advertising budget cold calling is going to be a fact of life if you’re going to launch a successful venture. All it costs is a telephone call and most of the time if you’re calling established firms they have a toll-free number anyways.

Recently I’ve been doing some cold calling for a business of mine. It’s doing alright but with what I have to offer I want more people to become aware.

When you think of cold calling and the though to of pitching your …

Use Money Love People

March 19, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Business Advice

The main message of this article is to use money and love people; not the other way around!

Too many people get so attached / consumed with making money they step all over those who are helping them. Remember that life is a long game and ultimately every company is made of people. Money is an amazing slave but a horrible master and if you guide your actions based soley on money while not respecting people you will neither be rich nor liked. (Not a good combo.) Also karma has a way of biting you. Just because you screwed someone over on a business deal doesn’t mean you’re going to have the same thing happen but you can count on something of negative of roughly the equivalent happening to you; most likely in another aspect of your life.

A strong unhealthy love of money at all costs leads to greed. Greed is …

When Business Turns Bitter

March 18, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Business Advice

Today we have another guest post by Kelly McCausey. Remember if you’d like to make a guest post here simply contact us. We’ll work something out!

Having developed some amazing relationships and partnerships that have had a positive impact on my online business, I am very much a fan of networking and partnering with other business owners. Still, I can’t say that all of my business relationships have been win-win.

Failed partnerships and issues of broken confidence have left many with a bitter taste in their mouth.

There is always some element of risk involved when opening up to others about your business plans and dreams. You’ve heard horror stories about business ideas stolen during a networking situation and tales of business partnerships gone bad. There’s no doubt bad things can and do happen between people in business. I just believe the potential benefits far outweigh the risk.

Bitter business …

30 Day Blogging Challenge Underway

March 17, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging

I was online the other day as I am most days when I came across something that I found incredibly interesting. It’s called the 30 Day Blogging Challenge.

The idea was conceived at least as far as I know by Alan  at Affiliate Confession. The premise is to make a minimum of 1 blog post per day for  30 days or more.  Supposedly after you’ve done this for 30 days it will become instilled as a habit (a good one at that), your writing will be much more fluid as you’re used to it and of course your blog traffic should increase tremendously. Why would people take the time to visit your blog daily if you don’t update it daily? (Makes a lot of sense doesn’t it?).

I learned about this roughly a month or so ago but have not been able to partake due to work obligations; traveling etc. …

A Little PR Love - Works For Me!

March 15, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: What I am Doing

I bought this blog in November as many of you may remember. About 3-4 days after I finished purchasing; it was slapped with a PR 0 or N/A from Page Rank 4. I wrote a post about it and received quite a bit of criticism; predominantly from other active Pay Per Post users who condemned me for stating the fact this blog lost it’s PR was due to the previous owner openly using that and similar services. Can’t say I was surprised with the uproar though… People always try and protect their income streams.

About 24 hours ago I was checking this blog from a hotel room and sure enough I saw some page rank. It’s only a page rank 2 which doesn’t seem accurate but at least it is a step in the right direction! This has given me some incentive to see what else I can do and …
