I find that it's cut down on my posting frequency, but improved my blog writing - as I tend to get to the point a bit faster. (Yes, that is faster... even if it takes me ten times longer than the average bear!) Great post!! I'd actually recommend that first time Twitter users follow around 300 until they get the sense of the flow - then yeah, around 1k is a good mix.
