Office / Home Inprovement

September 21, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

If you have a home office, it is likely that you have some changes in mind, maybe more cabinets, desk space, a shelf, etc. Instead of spending a ton of money and visit a site like this one that helps you learn how to build wood cabinetsor have your husband do it! They even have a bunch of DVD’s that you can get, and you know what I like to say, knowledge is power.

Even if you don’t build something now, just knowing how to do it will give you more life experience should you ever need it, maybe helping a friend, or stranded on a desert island…. ok, that is a bit far fetched, but you get the point. For instance, while I don’t have to change a tire, lucky me, I know how just in case I ever have to, my ex-boyfriend showed me …

Lamps, Lamps and More Lamps

September 20, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design

Our house is dark, I hate that. It is depressing. Sooo, this weekend we went and bought a ton of lamps, we have one on nearly every surface and a floor one for the bedroom. I am hoping that will get me back into the mood! And those light fixtures for the ceiling are expensive, thats what we were going to do instead of lamps, but no way, it is a pain to install and lamps were cheaper! LOL

Also, I am looking for a ceiling fan that plugs in, you know, the kind that hangs from the ceiling by like a hook or something and the cord drapes along the ceiling and down to a plug- but I cant find one anywhere! Maybe they don’t make them anymore…

Make Better Pictures / Animations

September 5, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design

Check out the Morpheus Photo-Morpher, it is a great investment if you work with images! It lets you morph a picture into another picture, I am sure this would be great for diet or makeover sites, start with the original and then move on to the result. And as I just figured out it is also great for website transformations. You can get more info on it at the zoombli site. It is nearly 40 dollars but very cool! I am using it to put together a presentation for an appointment I have on Saturday with a web design client.

hbbb.gifCheck it out, this is a quick image morph I did, of the old desing here to a newer design. I will need to play with it for a while before I really get good at it. …

Who Is Your Audience?

September 2, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design, Business Advice

AudienceBy understanding the type of people who visit your website or blog is key to your success, if you write for the wrong people, you will not be optimizing. If you figure out who your audience is early on, you can write just for them, which will result in loyal readers. In the end, that equals more status, and if your about it, money.

What is the age range of your visitors, and what skill level? A husband that wants to know how to plant a garden may love your site, while a professional landscaper my turn his nose. In the same respect, a site that a professional would want to read could be the same thing that a regular person would find boring. Do thinks like making a poll for your visitors, asking general questions, one or 2 a week until you have …

August 22, 2007 | Author: Eve Lester | Filed under: Design, Blogging

I have been using SnagIt to grab images for every post, it has saved me a lot of time in posting, and has helped all of my post be better, it is always a good idea to use a small image with every post, it draws in the reader and ads personality to the post. You may also want to check out the Snagit Guide blog, there is a lot of information there about using it.

Links mentioned in Video - Jing, TechSmith, and Stock Exchange.
