Want to know why you are losing your rankings to newer sites? Velocity of inbound links. Your site is stale so no one links to it; only makes sense for search engines to find one that is more ‘popular’.
By adding a blog you’re adding fresh content and giving people a reason to link / talk about you. In 2000 you started to need a website; now you’re starting to …
MyBloglog and BlogCatalog - Work the System
May 4, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging
So today I got an email from mybloglog (MBL) and it said it had auto joined me into some communities that I often frequent. I thought sure whatever; that’s kinda cool. Then my mind started racing about the whole “automatic” principle.
Disclaimier: Before I get into what I came up with lest it be known that I have never done this nor would I be proactive enough to take the time to do this as I’m clearly much to lazy and impatient. Also I’m not suggesting you do it; but knowledge is power so let me empower you with this possibility.
If you want to work the system for maximum exposure through their widgets what I’d say you do is make a macro that in a browser with images off takes you to all your top 50 or 100 favorite HIGH TRAFFIC blogs. If you made the macro to do it …
Sites to Promote Your Bloggeries
May 3, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging
So you’ve written a few bloggeries and want to get the word out; how? Social Media sites such as Digg are a huge success and widely popular but it’s tough for a blog to make it on the main page. Luckily a software called pligg was released and several sites that operate on a functional level very similarly to digg now exist exclusively for blog posts aka bloggeries.
Some of the sites include:
I know that there are others but these are the ones that came to me off the top of my head. I’ll add more as times goes on and if you know of any please post them in a comment.
If you’re looking to get some extra traffic to your blog consider submitting your posts to some of the sites above. Like most social media sites the more active you …
Twitter and Why I Love Micro Blogging
April 23, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging
Micro Blogging is like Blogging for those with ADD; preferably ADHD and I love it! When it comes to micro blogging seems like the service I mentioned last update Twitter is the mecca.
I like micro blogging because you don’t need a “topic” or any intro, body or conclusion to it. Micro bloggeries are simply a random thought, statement, announcement, whatever. You can blog about the weather in one and then talk about some seo bloggeries you found recently in another. I like how twitter limits you to 140 characters as it constantly reminds us to put the message and not drown it with filler. Another part I’m loving is how you comment back and forth through replies in real time. I’d best describe it as a massive im where you subscribe to peoples feeds but they reply in real time a lot of the time.
I’ve made about 192 …
Free Wordpress Themes
April 5, 2008 | Author: Rob | Filed under: Blogging
Free Wordpress Themes are a way of life in the wordpress community. Besides the obvious reasons of owning your content and having creative control over what you wish to publish one of the major benefits of using wordpress on your own domain is the sheer volume of free themes available for download.
If you’re looking for free themes please click here.
Try out a whole variety of free ones before you finally settle on one and tweak it a bit. Remember part of having a free theme is leaving links at the bottom to those who sponsored the theme. If you don’t want those links and really like a particular artist I’d recommend you contact them and ask if they can quote on a custom theme. Custom themes set your blog apart but it’s good to know you don’t need to rush into one. You can use a free one …
