If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
This is something I am working on implementing, using icons in my posts. You can use them by either using them as bullet points, or by having a specific icon depending on the category you are posting in. I personally like the XP Style Icons offered by Icon Galore, they are very clean and functional. I am working on makeing this blog set up to have a specific icon associated with each category, then each post assigned to that category will have the icon as a watermarked image in the background of the post. I have yet to site down and figure out how to do this, but I will be getting that accomplished soon. ![]()

Featured Home Biz of the Week - My Very own Mail
January 16, 2007 | Filed under: Business Advice Comments(2) | expand »
Last week, we featured Practical Saver as our Home Business of the week. This week, we are featuring Lisa Roberson, owner of My Very Own Mail. Lisa sells personalized letters to children promoting literacy. The children also receive, along with their letters, an easy-to-do craft project and a coordinating goodie, such as stickers.
This is a WONDERFUL business, she offers a subscription to the service, where the child receives a new letter every month with a craft project. Children love to get letters so this is a great gift and way to promote reading and activity.
Later in the week I will be talking to Lisa a little more to feature an interview with her about how she got started. Feel free to email or comment with any specific questions you would like to ask. Thank you Lisa for being in business!!…
Home office accounting resource

When you run a small business, one of the biggest issues is going to be money, be it paying someone, yourself, or taxes, you will have to keep on top of this. Some, like me, are just no good at parts of this, taxes are my issue. So it may be worthwhile to get someone to help you keep the accounting paperwork together, there are many companies both locally and online that offer small business accounting. One such company is the Accounting Paradise.com. They offer a monthly program starting at 10.00 a month. Well worth it to keep from getting in trouble down the line with budgets and taxes. I am actually planning on doing this through them, as I work for several different companies online and it can get very tricky determining how much to allocate to takes, marketing, etc. ![]()

Getting Organized in your home office
January 15, 2007 | Filed under: Business Advice Comments(2) | expand »
One of my New Years resolutions this year is to get organized. I plan on starting over in my office in the next month or so when we move into our new house. So I think now is a great time to discuss some needed things to do to get and stay organized. No matter the ‘business’ you do, these tips should apply to you.
Filing
Even with the electronics we have, having a paper filing system is still needed. Depending on your space and amount of files, you can use a small file folder on up to a file cabinet. They have many types of file folders available, my favorites are the kind with a built in media holder, as you can put in all paperwork as well as the associated CD/DVD with the electronic backups. You can sort using colors, dates, names, etc.
How to monetize your website

One of the ways you can work from home is by having a website that you can monetize. Be it a blog or a actual website with products or affiliate links. I will be covering alot of ways to do that on this blog as well, but as usually this blog is also about sharing resources. I found another blogger that has some quality website content about making money online. They have numerous articles on adSense, digg, other affiliate programs, and more. Seems to be a great resource for webmasters and business owners.
The blog is divided into categories, much like this one, with sections on Website content, marketing, design, and more. I would add this to your list of sites to check back with often while working from home. I see alot of useful material here.
